Virtual PVT Lab - Getting Started
PVT Data Digitalization
The Virtual PVT Lab feature allows the user to utilize fluid models for various calculations. Given this, it is naturally required to have a fluid model to base the calculations on. You can either utilize the fluid model developed in the 'Fluid Model Development' certifice, or download and import this test model. A guide to importing fluid models is given here.
There are currently four various PVT calculation features in whitsonPVT. These are the 'Equilibrium Calculation', 'Phase Envelope', 'Synthetic PVT Experiments' and the 'Fluid Model Validation'.
Equilibrium Calculation
The equilibrium calculation replicates a single-stage flash calculation, where you can see how your fluid properties and phases will behave at various conditions under equilibrium.
Phase Envelope
The Phase Envelope allows you to generate various phase envelopes based on the working EOS and a selectable composition.
Synthetic PVT Experiments
This feature allows the user to simulate experimental results at given reservoir and processing conditions.
Fluid Model Validation
The fluid model validation serves two functions, you can use this calculation to generate adjusted compositions for samples - which is necessary for imported fluid models, and to see how a fluid model compares to samples. This second functionality also works for samples that have been added to the project. This basically means that you could see whether an older fluid model works for new samples acquired.
